Wimob™ FAQ
Wimob™ Suite Starter Guide for Publishers & Bloggers
At www.wimob.com go to the Publishers & Bloggers section and fill in the register fields. You will receive an email with a link to activate your account.
Go back to the Register window and Add your website. You will receive an email with an xml file which you should copy to the root of your website (i.e. www or html-public). Click on TICK and your url will be validated. You can add several urls on the same username. Please take into consideration that the Suite only allows one username per url simultaneously in order to avoid conflicts, but you may cancel anytime the url in one user’s Wimob list and then add it in another user’s list.
Once you have registered an url, you have the Basic Suite. For having the rights of the Medium or Advanced Suite you need to upgrade using PayPal for each url. You could have different Suite rights for each url.
The Suite is now ready to be used at Start/Programms/Wimob/Suite. The technical requirements on your PC for using the Suite are:
- Windows 2003, XP or Vista operating system.
- 7,20 MB free disk space. Windows XP users might require to download extra installation package containing .Net Framework 3.0.
- Internet connection with Internet Explorer v.6.0 or Firefox v.1.5 and above.
- Screen resolution minimum 1024x768 pixels.
Open the application and read the instructions at Start page.
Create a new Project by clicking on File/New/Project. Set the main properties, especially the URL field. The application will request username and password, as you are the only user with access to your urls. Please indicate the default background picture seen by your internet users when downloading Wimob (the file size is unlimited and the dimensions should be 377 x 674 pixels). You may include your logo or text in this background picture. The format of the background file should be gif, jpg, png or bmp. Indicate the size and color for the Wimob icon on your website. You may create as many Projects as you wish for one URL.
Create a new Group in this Project by clicking on File/Project/Create Group or on the Project itself with the right button. All the contents in one Group will appear in the “Related items” list on the Wimob User Application. You may create different Groups inside one Project.
Create a new Wimob Content in this Group by clicking on the Group itself with the right button or positioning your mouse on the Group and going to File/Project/Create Content. Please indicate the Content type and the Content file. The format of the content file should be: for images gif, jpg, png, bmp; for videos 3gp, mgp, avi, mov. You will be able to select a specific background for each content or leave the default background. The different contents belonging to a Group will appear in the “Related items” list on the Wimob User application.
Click on Project/Publish and the conversion process will start, creating a set of files for the different mobile formats.
Insert the first part of the script into the Head section of your website.
Insert the second part of the script into the Body section of your website where you want to place the Wimob icon.
Use your usual publishing tool (i.e. ftp) to upload the folder with the converted content to the root of your website (i.e. www or html-public).
Check that these file formats are allowed to be downloaded from your servers: for images gif, jpg, png, bmp; for flash flv; for videos 3gp, mgp, avi, mov; for Wimob files: wmb.
Go to your website and click on the Wimob icon. If you don’t have the Wimob user application, you will be prompted to download it.
